Servicing / Repairs

Cycle Surgery is one of the few bicycle workshops in the country dedicated to repairs and servicing.

Depending on how your bicycle has been maintained we offer a few levels of service:

General service $70

• Inspect the bicycle (this is where we pick up on the problems)
• Check and adjust, hubs, headset and bottom bracket
• Check and true wheels if required (minor true on bike)
• Inflate tubes and check tyres
• Clean brake pad surface
• Adjust brakes
• Check pedals and crank set
• Adjust gears
• Check all fittings
• Lube chain
• Wipe over bike

General service and degrease $110

• Includes all of the general service plus
• Removes, degreases, and refits chain, cassette/cluster, and crank set (new chain joining link may be required)

Complete overhaul $200

• Chain, cassette/cluster, cranks, front and rear derailleurs, are cleaned by hand.
• Both hubs are stripped, cleaned and reassembled with new bearings if required
• Wheels are trued in the jig and are re-dished if needed
• Heads set is cleaned and bearings replace if required
• Brake and gear cables are replaced
• Derailleur hanger is checked to ensure that alignment is spot on
• Gears and brakes are then tuned
• (Complete overhaul does not include suspension fork or rear shock service)

Major Complete overhaul $320

• This is the bee's knees of servicing. Everything gets stripped off the frame. Once the frame is stripped bare it is cleaned and polished
• Chain, cassette/cluster, cranks, front and rear derailleurs, spend some time in the degreaser bath ensuring that all the dirt, grit, mud, oil etc is removed
• Both hubs are stripped, cleaned and reassembled with new bearings if required
• Wheels are trued in the jig and are re-dished if needed
• Heads set is refitted to the clean frame with fresh bearings
• Once the bike is reassembled, if required brake and gear cables are replaced
• Derailleur hanger is checked to ensure that alignment is spot on
• Gears and brakes are then tuned
• (Major Complete overhaul does not include suspension fork or rear shock service)

The end result of the complete overhaul is to know that you have a safe and sound bike.

Suspension forks and rear shocks $POA

• Suspension forks and shock's usage is usually measured in hours. Depending on brand, model, conditions, riding frequency and riding style. This can be anywhere from 25hours up to 50hours.
• Spring and elastomer type forks and shocks are serviced at the workshop here in Canberra.
• All air/oil type forks and shocks are sent back to the supplier where a full range of parts is kept.

Note: The prices listed are for labour only and do not include parts. Due to high repair numbers storage it short. All repairs not collected within 10 days without prior arrangement will be placed into offsite storage. Storage fee's apply and will be charged per day.
